For your clients buying a policy today, what really matters, especially in investments, is the experience in 10, 15, 20, 30 years from now. And when they get there, it's important that we can keep the promises we make. That means we have to set reasonable expectations and consider what the world may look like many years from now. This is why I urge you to be curious. Look under the hood of the illustration. Ask about the assumptions underlying the illustration results that you see, and understand how things may evolve in the next 10, 15, 20, 30 years. On investments, ask questions like “is the current dividend scale interest rate based on actual experience or some future projections?” Ask questions like “do policyholders who bought their policy ten, 15, 20, 30 years ago see the same investment performance as what's being presented in new sales illustrations today?” Ask questions like “how responsive is the investment portfolio to changes in interest rates?” Ask questions like “how large and diversified is the investment portfolio?” Insurance is about trust. Insurance is about living through our promises. You should ask these questions and many more before making a client recommendation, and I'm convinced you'll feel good about our answers. I feel good about our answers. We're in the business for life. I truly believe that we have the best par insurance solution in the market.
